J.B.&A. Maxfield, Milwaukee, WI 2 Gallon Decorated Ovoid Jug

This ovoid jug is incised with the earlier Maxfield stamp, "J.B.& A. MAXFIELD MILWAUKEE" This earlier stamp was used by the Maxfield pottery works for one year; 1854. John Maxfield bought out his brother Amos Maxfield in 1855. This stoneware jug has a beautiful cobalt tulip or flower decoration.
