Milwaukee - Linden Apiary . Diehnelt

This crock is stamped on the front "FROM THE LINDEN APIARY PURE HONEY. DIEHNELT, MILWAUKEE - WIS." in an oval. Note that the initial was removed from the stamp when August died, leaving just a period. It was later replaced with W (for William). This is a rare variant. There is an earlier stamp with an A (for August).

Watch out because this crock was reproduced in the late 1970's by "Honey Acres" a retail business in Menomonee Falls Wisconsin. They sold them as a novelty in their retail store in massive quantities and many are sold as old. The reproduction is about two quarts, much smaller than the originals. The glaze is also rather obviously new, and are not marked Red Wing.
