Whitewater (not signed)
This bottle was most likely made by one of the potters located in Whitewater, Wisconsin. This one, like most of their wares is not stamped with the potters or bottlers name, but has the typical distinctive yellow glaze. It is an earthenware, also referred to as yellow ware or red ware which is fired at a lower temperature than stoneware. It is not nearly as tough as stoneware and is more susceptible to break, chip, or lose glazing. Most bottles from Whitewater have the square shoulders rather than the typical Wisconsin form. It is glazed on the bottom and the inside with the same color glaze.
